I didn't realize how long it had been since I posted anything. It's been a busy couple of months. The biggest happening was Joe and Kristin's wedding. What a great day! You could feel the happiness they share. We are so happy to have Joe become a part of our family. A true asset!
I've been really busy with PTO lately. We just finished "teacher Appreciation Week". We put on a big luncheon for the staff at the school and did several other "acknowledgements" for the staff as well. I was exhausted by the end of the week.
It's now Mother's Day week-end...Can I just say I LOVE BEING A MOM! Taylor is the greatest. Yes, she can be a stinker sometimes...but also a loving, caring, sweetheart of a girl. I can't believe she is already 8. Time definitely flies!
We are looking forward to a trip to Colorado in a couple of weeks. One of my nieces is graduating from High School...It will be a fun trip to go and visit with family.
The school year is at an end. Unbelievable - but only 14 school days left. WooHoo, summer is here.

A Long Long Time Ago...I can Still Remember...

When I was almost 20 I met a man and fell in love. It came as a surprise to me, not that I could fall in love, but that I fell in love with him. He was a nice guy, very good looking. But, I always thought I'd fall in love with someone that was from my church and he was far from that! He smoked, and had two kids!!! I overcame those things with no problem - the kids for instance was not a big deal at all to me. I fell in love with them too. The smoking he was able to stop, although it took some time. We spent a lot of time together. Pretty much every day and evening that we could. He lived with his kids and his parents next door to where I lived with my parents. About a year after we started to date, he died. He was working on a car for a friend and the car fell off the blocks and crushed him. Killing him. I was devastated. I thought it was the most cruel joke anyone could ever play on a person. The reality was, it wasn't a joke at all. Life as I had come to know it changed, drastically. Not only did I not have him in my life, but his kids were not in my life any longer either. His funeral was on my 21st birthday! The family went through a huge custody battle and within a few years the grandparents took the kids and moved out of the area. I would hear about the kids from time to time. But I didn't see them or see how they had grown. A few years ago at a funeral, for a member of their family, I was able to see them again. But still there was no real contact. Facebook has been an exciting experience for me. Through a friend of a friend of a friend (or something like that) I was able to reconnect with both of the kids again. Suprisingly to me, they aren't kids any more. I don't remember growing older, when did they? He is 32 and she is 31. How did she get to be a beauty, how did he grow to be so tall....wasn't it yesterday when they were small? I am so happy to know they are doing well. I love being able to "talk" to them on facebook. We have even talked about meeting sometime. How great will that be.

Today I had to go to "Little Philmont" a Training Seminar for Scouting! A whole new world of information...I kept saying they were speaking another language! Anyway, while I was there, I kept thinking about my Dad! I don't know if it's because it was his birthday the other day or the fact that he LOVED Scouting! I just kept thinking how cool it would have been if we could have been at the training together. Maybe he was there!

PS - to any of you that read my post (all one of you) that's Danny to the right of my Dad in the picture - wasn't he such a cute little guy - that was 12 1/2 years ago!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!
Today My Dad would have turned 74 yrs old. He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer Just over 3 years ago. He lived for 10 months with this disease. His goal was to live long enough to celebrate 50 years of marriage to my Mom. He reached that goal on August 3, 2006 and passed away just 6 days later. I miss you all the time, Dad!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! It was a busy time for our family. We spent Christmas Eve, Christmas and the day after in Newark with my Mom and Sister (and family). My brother came up from Bakersfield on Christmas day. It was a nice Christmas lots of food, presents and visiting.

The Sunday after Christmas we left for a Cabin in Heber, Utah. We drove part of the way on Sunday and the rest of the way on Monday. A long, long drive! But worth it. The cabin was fantastic. There was a ton of snow for sledding. My Sister, Mom and Brother (from CO) and families were all there. On New Years Eve we headed over to Sundance for some of the group to ski or snowboard ( or take a trip to the ER)! It wasn't the day any of us had thought it would be. The conditions (slippery/ icy slopes) weren't the best. So the skiing/boarding wasn't as fun as everyone had hoped for. But it was fun spending the day together.
It was great getting reacquainted with my Niece and Nephews from Colorado and my Niece and her baby from Utah. I hate that I don't see them as often as I would like.

We sadly said goodbye on Saturday the 5th and made the loooong drive back home.

Now it's back to the same old same old!!!

Looking ahead to the new year We look forward to Kristin and Joe getting married in April. This should a fun occasion. They are getting married in Pismo Beach. Tayor is a flower girl so we need to get her a new dress. Walt needs to get fitted for his Tuxedo.

In May we plan to take a trip to Colorado for Morgan's graduation from High School. My Mom and I were supposed to go last year for my Brother's 40th, but the plane had a cracked windshield and they cancelled the flight. We couldn't get another flight to get us there in time for the party (which was all a surprise)! So we plan to get there the day before graduation so we don't have to worry about delays!

In June, my Nephew Danny will graduate from High School - I can't believe these two are old enough to be graduating. It seems like they were just babies and youngens!!! The were so young when Walt and I got married. They passed out the bubbles to the guests, along with "BJ" aka Will! They have all grown into such nice young people. I love them all very much!

Well enough boring dialog - onto some pictures from the wonderful Holiday season we enjoyed!!!

I wish you all "enough"!

Santa and Taylor

We took Taylor to visit Santa the other night, she really loves him! It would probably be easier and shorter to make a list of the things she isn't asking for.
